Liz Chen (she/they) is a queer multicultural graphic and UX/UI designer, researcher, educator, and amateur sewist. They received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (Reporting) with a minor in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019 and Master’s degree in Graphic and Experience Design (MGXD) from North Carolina State University in 2023.
In graduate school, Liz gravitated toward designing with/for diverse communities through an ethics-based lens, conducting thesis research around diversifying course materials in design education curricula using machine learning technologies to increase intersectional students' feelings of belonging.
Currently, Liz is an Assistant TeachingProfessor of Graphic and Experience Design at NCSU. Their research interests include identity, design ethics, pedagogy, design justice and activism, inclusive design, and AI/machine learning.
